The Key Performance Indices Model of Product Data Management System for LCD Industry

In recent years, many panel manufacturers and vendors in Taiwan have invested extensively in liquid crystal display (LCD) due to the increasing demand from all over the world. New types and lager size of LCDs have been designed collaboratively by R&D groups using product data management (PDM) system. However, the key performance indices (KPIs) of PDM system are lack of discussion in LCD industry. In this paper, a model was constructed to evaluate the KPIs focusing on the LCD related manufacturers in Taiwan. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), and Principle Component Analysis (PCA) are applied to build this model. First, we arrange eighteen indices and choose ten of them by AHP. Further, we choose five quantitative indices from the annual financial reports concerning R&D process in LCD related manufacturers, which are analyzed by CCR model in DEA. Finally, the performance ranking is revised by PCA. By implementing the proposed model, LCD related manufacturers are able to evaluate and improve the performance of R&D department by using PDM system. The proposed model is able to assist LCD related manufacturers to improve the performance of PDM system as well.
